Select a Theme

Spread the love

You made it to Step 3! This is where you get to make decisions about the look of your blog and select a theme. There are so many theme choices available, sometimes it’s overwhelming. You don’t need to spend a lot of (or any) money to get started, and you can always change your theme later.

Free is a Very Good Price

I recommend first taking a look at the free themes offered by your web hosting service. I use a free WordPress theme I found in Bluehost and have customized it with my own graphics. Here are some other free options I found:

Premium, Reasonably-Priced Themes

There are some advantages to paying for a theme. Although many free themes allow for some customization, you will have more of an ability to customize with a paid theme. If you choose to pay for a theme, it will be up-to-date, secure and unique. Comprehensive customer support is the norm for a paid theme. Phone consultation with the developer is sometimes offered as well. Here are some of the most popular, reasonably-priced WordPress themes:

OceanWP (classic, multipurpose theme)

Astra (ideal for writers)

Bold (for photography sites)

Decorist (excellent for an online shop)

OceanWP (classic, multipurpose theme)

Ultra (for fitness sites)

Paid Theme Sites for Multiple Theme Options

Beaver Builder (drag and drop page builder with dozens of templates)

Bluchic (themes designed with female entrepreneurs and bloggers in mind)

Elegant Themes (includes the most popular WordPress theme, Divi)

Thrive Themes (membership comes with  multiple web business resources in addition to themes)

I think those are enough options for now. Choosing a theme can be overwhelming. Setup should be simple, and there should be enough flexibility in the theme to fit your needs. You can always change your theme.

Once you select a theme, you’re ready for the next step.
