Picture this: your mini desserts for parties look gorgeous, the dessert table is glowing, and then the pumpkin pies vanish in ten minutes while a tray of toffee sits untouched. Planning tiny desserts for a crowd is part math, part psychology, and part gut instinct. Whether you’re building a dessert table, a mini desserts charcuterie board, or a holiday spread of bite size treats, this guide shows how many of each dessert to plan per person. It covers eight crowd-pleasers, from cake pops and no-bake pumpkin pies to buttery toffee, so you can make just enough and stress less.

Easy Blueberry Hand Pies
These are the most substantial dessert on the list. At about 290 calories each, one hand pie feels like a real dessert.
Plan on 1 hand pie per person when they share the table with three or more other treats. If they’re the star of a picnic, potluck, or tea party, plan on 1 to 2 per person. One batch of crust makes 6 to 8 four-inch pies, so a group of 8 needs one batch and a group of 16 needs two.
The air fryer only holds 3 to 4 pies at a time, so bake ahead if you’re feeding a crowd.
Mini Pumpkin Pies
This one is the easiest to plan because each pie is built as a single serving: one pudding cup, one mini graham cracker crust, and a tablespoon of pumpkin pie mix.
Plan on 1 mini pumpkin pie per person. For a gathering of 12, that means 12 pies, which is 2 packs of 6-count crusts and 3 packs of 4-count pudding cups. If kids are building their own, add a few extras to cover spills and second helpings.
Peanut Butter Fudge
Fudge is very rich, so small squares go a long way. Plan on 2 to 3 pieces per person when it’s one of several desserts. If it’s the only sweet or you’re packing it as a gift, plan on 4 to 5 pieces. The recipe card makes 48 pieces, and cut into smaller squares it can reach 80. One batch covers roughly 16 to 24 guests at 2 to 3 pieces each. The fudge keeps about a week on the counter and about a month in the fridge, so you can make it well ahead.
Chocolate Scotcheroo Bars
Each scotcheroo bar runs about 232 calories, thanks to the peanut butter, chocolate, and butterscotch. Plan on 1 bar per person for a party with a variety of desserts, and 2 bars per person for campers, kids, or a crowd where bars are the main sweet. One 9 by 13-inch pan makes about 48 bars.
That feeds around 24 to 48 guests, depending on how many bars each person takes.
Milk Chocolate Toffee
Toffee is crunchy, buttery, and meant to be eaten in small pieces. At about 70 calories a piece, plan on 3 to 4 pieces per person for a dessert table. For a gift bag or jar, aim for 6 to 8 pieces.
One 3-pound batch breaks into about 100 pieces, which serves 25 to 30 guests on a dessert table. It also stores well, so it’s a good make-ahead candidate.
Gourmet Chocolate Truffles
At around 210 calories each, truffles are small but intense. Plan on 1 truffle per person if several other desserts are on the table, and 2 per person if truffles are the chocolate highlight. A basic batch makes about 18 to 24 truffles, so one batch serves roughly 10 to 12 guests at 2 each. If you want a variety of flavors, make one batch per flavor and keep each flavor to about half a truffle per person. That way guests can sample without anyone running out of their favorite.
Babka Knots
Babka knots are soft, filled, and about 350 calories each, so they work as a mini bread-meets-dessert. Plan on 1 babka knot per person for a brunch or tea spread with fruit, eggs, or other items. For a brunch where they’re the main sweet, plan on 2 per person. The recipe makes 18 knots, which covers 18 guests at one each, and each third of the dough makes 6. The baked scraps from trimming the rolls give you a few bonus bites.
Cake Pops
Cake pops are a party favorite because each one is a single, hand-held serving. At about 170 calories each, they’re lighter than most of the other desserts here. Plan on 1 to 2 cake pops per person when they share the table with other desserts, and lean toward 2 for kids’ parties, where the sticks make them a favorite. The recipe makes 24 cake pops from one boxed cake, which covers 12 to 24 guests depending on how many each person takes. If you’re also serving a full-size cake, plan on 1 per person. A standard 21-hole cake pop stand holds a full batch with room to spare, as long as the pops are under 2 inches around.
They keep 2 to 3 days at room temperature, 3 to 5 days in the fridge, and 2 to 3 months in the freezer, so you can make them well ahead of the party.
